A Phenomenological Study of Heavy-Quark Fragmentation Functions in e+e− Annihilation
نویسنده
چکیده
We consider the computation of D and B fragmentation functions in e+e− annihilation. We compare the results of fitting present data using the nextto-leading-logarithmic resummed approach, versus the O(αs) fixed-order calculation, including also mass-suppressed effects. We also propose a method for merging the fixed-order calculation with the resummed approach.

Meson B fragmentation function with consideration of mass corrections
Study of B meson (meson with the bottom quark flavor) in Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is of special importance so that the detector LHCb is devoted to investigate these types of mesons. For this reason, in this paper we will study the production process of this meson in a phenomenological approach using the experimental data from electron-positron annihilation. In this regards, we shall calculat...
متن کاملJet fragmentation in e + e − annihilation
A short review of theoretical and experimental results on fragmentation in e + e − annihilation is presented. Starting with an introduction of the concept of fragmentation functions in e + e − annihilation, aspects of scaling violation, multiplicities, small and large x, longitudinal, gluon, light and heavy quark fragmentation are summarized.
متن کاملTHE ROLE OF QUARK POLARIZATION IN HEAVY QUARK FRAGMENTATION
We calculate the exact fragmentation functions for c and b quark fragmentation taking into account the spin orientation of the initial heavy quark in the form of analytical and rather simple expressions. Our calculations show that spin orientation may have an important effect on the fragmentation spectrum. This effect is more striking in the cases of c ?D, D*; c? ? , ? , and ?B , B *.
متن کاملPhenomenological Relation between Distribution and Fragmentation Functions
We study the relation between the quark distribution function q(x) and the fragmentation function Dq(z) based on a general form Dq(x) = C(z)z q(z) for valence and sea quarks. By adopting two known parametrizations of quark distributions for the proton, we find three simple options for the fragmentation functions that can provide a good description of the available experimental data on proton pr...
متن کاملHeavy quark fragmentation functions in the heavy quark effective theory.
We calculate fragmentation functions for a b-quark to fragment into color-singlet P-wave bound states c̄b in the Heavy Quark Effective Theory with the exact account of O(1/mb) corrections. We demonstrate an agreement of the obtained results with the corresponding calculations carried out in quantum chromodynamics. Introduction. The study of heavy quarkonia properties is a subject of much current...
